Welcome to the city of Dunedin, New Zealand, with the most southerly taiko group in the world! Our earliest drums have their beginnings in 2009 through the Department of Music, University of Otago. The group’s membership includes university students and staff, as well as community enthusiasts. O-Taiko is particularly active in public performances and workshops, and university students can learn taiko as a part of their studies. In 2013, the group founded Ko-Taiko, a class for children aged 5–12 years that meets every Sunday afternoon during the school term. For more information about membership and our performance, workshop and teaching activities (beginners are welcome) please contact O-Taiko's leader Sabrina Goh by email, or visit one of our social media sites below.
